CBG (Cannabigerol) is one of more than 120 identified cannabinoid compounds found in the hemp plant. CBG is the “mother,” or “stem cell,” cannabinoid, which creates all other cannabinoids such as CBD and THC. In fact, several cannabinoids, including CBD are derived from CBG. CBG differentiates into CBD and other cannabinoids as the hemp plant matures. By the time the plant is fully grown, the majority of CBG is no longer present in the plant, so to produce a potent CBG product, specific strains of industrial hemp are grown. Like CBD, CBG is non-intoxicating and interacts with your endocannabinoid system (ECS) by binding with your CB1 and CB2 receptors, helping to achieve a healthy equilibrium or homeostasis. CBG enhances the “entourage effect,” elevating the wellness benefits of CBD when paired together.
